Whitney Port trying to carry her own baby again after 5 miscarriages

Whitney Port revealed that she has cancelled her surrogacy plans in order to be the ‘vessel’ for her second child. 

The 41-year-old TV personality, who has been emotionally candid about her fertility journey and struggles, took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday to offer the update to her followers. 

Port is mother to son Sonny, nine, whom she shares with husband Tim Rosenman. The couple have been trying to have another baby for seven years. 

The Hills alum, who has suffered five miscarriages, uploaded a pH๏τo of herself at an appointment inside a fertility clinic in New York City. 

She then wrote that ‘after all the red tape, the money, the emotions, and just how long everything has taken, we’ve decided to go in a different direction. 

‘I’m scared to be the vessel,’ Port admitted, before adding that she is ‘even more scared of letting fear stop me from trying for something I was so deeply.’

Another slide showed Rosenman had joined her at the appointment as she wrote, ‘uterus looks good. let’s f***ing go!’ 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Port for comment, but has yet to hear back.

During an episode of her With Whit podcast which released on Wednesday, the star explained to fans that she and her husband had been trying to find a new surrogate to carry their second child. 

‘The whole thing has just gotten so difficult that I finally decided that I want to check out how I look physically and see if carrying is something that I can actually do on my own,’ Port shared. 

The media personality also explained that she has two viable embryos. 

She then revealed her intention to carry if doctors confirm that it was safe for her to do so. 

‘Do I particularly want to be pregnant? Not really. I wish I had a more beautiful and inspiring answer.’ 

Port added, ‘I did not love being pregnant. What I want is to wrap this up, I want a second child.’

Back in March, the star opened up to the Daily Mail about her fertility journey which began seven years earlier. 

After her son was born, Port had tried to welcome another child, but suffered five miscarriages. 

In 2023, both she and Rosenman made the decision to turn to surrogacy. 

‘We were using a second surrogate, and we did a transfer a couple weeks ago and the transfer didn’t stick,’ she said at the time. ‘So, we have two embryos left and we are going to try again with the same surrogate.’ 

Port described fertility struggles as ‘one of the most trying journeys.’ 

She talked about how she has learned to process emotions over the years amid the ‘long journey.’

The star explained that ‘these things just come in waves and you just have to ride them out and it’s going to hit you really hard at first, and then it’s going to calm down.’

‘And you’re going to have to do a bunch of things and it’s going to become more like work. And then the emotions are going to creep back in again.’

Port additionally got candid about what her ‘worst-case scenario’ would look like if fertility or surrogacy struggles persist.

‘For me, also leaning into what my worst-case scenario looks like, which is not even bad at all… but I have Sonny. I’m so grateful for Sonny,’ she said

She added, ‘And that if that is all I’m blessed with, just one child, then I’m still so grateful for that.

‘It will be sad if we can’t have a second and I’ll have to deal with that grief. But whatever my life looks like now is also so great that I need to come from a place of “this is just an additional bonus.”‘

Last year in April, Port revealed that she has suffered five miscarriages during an appearance on the SHE MD podcast. 

‘My first pregnancy was extremely easy. I went off my birth control and within a couple months I was pregnant. I had no issues, no complications.

‘I didn’t feel great, but it was a completely healthy pregnancy. I was 32.’

Nearly one year after welcoming her son, she became pregnant but ‘miscarried at around eight weeks, and I had another miscarriage after that.’ 

When she was in her mid-30s, a doctor suggested that she visit a fertility specialist who wasn’t able to find any complications. 

‘At this point, I was 34 or 35. I’ve had a total of five miscarriages. One at eight weeks, a few at nine weeks, and one ended up at 11 weeks. All with heartbeats,’ she said. 

After undergoing a round of IVF, Port had four embryos: two boys and two girls.

Two transfers were done with the girl embryos, but the surrogate miscarried twice. Port and Rosenman decided to take a break for one year. 

On the podcast episode last year, The Hills alum explained that she and her husband were searching for a new surrogate at the time. 

Earlier this week on Monday, Port took to her main Instagram page to celebrate her son’s ninth birthday. 

The TV personality uploaded a video montage which contained special moments with Sonny, such as having a blast on a family vacation.
