Nick Reiner’s ‘extremely hostile’ outburst at prison shower revealed

Posted by max - July 29, 2026

Nick Reiner was allegedly subject to disciplinary action for a purported outburst in prison as he awaits trial for the murders of his parents Michele and Rob Reiner.

The 32-year-old, who had a history of substance abuse and was also reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia, is being held in solitary confinement in the specialized medical observation unit at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.

Inmates in that unit are individually taken to and from the showers by deputies, who as a precaution are able to see their heads and feet.

A source has now claimed that on April 27, Nick took a shower, got dressed in a fresh uniform and grew ‘very impatient’ while waiting to be brought back to his cell by deputies who were delayed because another inmate apparently overdosed.

‘He was recalcitrant, extremely hostile, creating a verbal disturbance, refusing to follow rules and not listening to any commands,’ the insider alleged to People.

As a result, he was written up and had multiple privileges – including commissary access, phone calls and visitation – rescinded for five days, the source ᴀsserted.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined the Daily Mail’s request for comment. The Daily Mail has contacted Reiner’s counsel for comment.

The insider said Nick ‘was yelling, screaming, being disrespectful and shouting many profanities’ while at the shower, having become ‘upset and hostile because no one was coming back right away and he wasn’t attended to.’

According to the source, Nick ‘had finished showering and changed and wanted to return to his cell. When it took too long, he became frustrated and angry.’

He is said to have aimed his vitriol at a sheriff and a sergeant, and it has been claimed three more guards eventually arrived when a deputy requested reinforcements.

The insider maintained, however, that Nick’s disruptive behavior to staff remained verbal and never escalated into a physical conflict.

After a supervising officer reviewed his disciplinary write-up, Nick received a cell visit from a disciplinary officer who informed him of the punishments he had received and the violation he had committed, and who talked to him about his behavior.

According to the source, Nick has generally become acclimatized to prison and the fracas at the showers on April 27 was anomalous.

In Nick’s medical observation unit, each inmate is taken alone by a sheriff and a sergeant to a locked steel shower and subject to a wellness check every 15 minutes.

Although the inmates are not filmed or watched while they actually wash, the deputies are equipped with bodycams while taking them to and from the showers.

Nick, who if convicted could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 15

Nick, who pled not guilty to two charges of first-degree murder, has spent his imprisonment in solitary confinement in a 7ft-by-10ft cell.

A source close to the Reiner family informed the Daily Mail this month that he has been ‘rapidly deteriorating’ in custody and has become ‘like a babbling child, totally out of it,’ to the extent that ‘his lawyers have a hard time talking to him.’

He had no personal visitors other than his lawyers until this Monday, when he was met by someone a source described as ‘a relative’ in the presence of his counsel.

Rob and Michele were found stabbed to death December 14, 2025 at their $13.5 million Brentwood estate, where Nick lived in the guesthouse.

Nick was reportedly seen arguing fiercely with his parents at Conan O’Brien’s star-studded Christmas party on the evening before the bodies were discovered, allegedly by the late couple’s daughter Romy, 28, who lived across the street.

At first, Nick’s counsel was the top-flight lawyer Alan Jackson, who successfully prosecuted Phil Spector for murder and in private practice as a defense attorney has represented Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein.

When asked who was paying his fees, Jackson replied: ‘I can’t comment.’

However on January 7, Jackson withdrew from the case citing ‘circumstances beyond our control’ and ‘beyond Nick’s control,’ and the accused is now being represented by public defender Kimberly Greene.

Nick, who if convicted could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 15.
